PWDCA SPECIALTY 2008

September 13, 2008 - PWDCA Specialty day 1
Last Thursday my mom and Yvon traveled to the USA with Keisha, Casa Hoya's Special Edition and Apple, Casa Hoya's Juicy Edition so they could attend water practice on Friday. (so they could use a float line as well as they never had before!)
I traveled out there a day later as I had to go to school Thursday so couldn't fly out at the same time they did.

I got to meet the 3 girls from Canada who I'm showing this week and worked with them a little in the morning.
Reese, Am/Can CH Keepsake's Reese Lightning and her daughters Lily, Cosmos Water Lily 2nd and Stella, Cosmos Reach For The Stars. All owned by Barbara Floch, Cosmos PWDs.

Saturday it was the first performance day for my mom, Yvon and the girls. We had beautiful weather for the watertrail, and it was at a great site. They were both entered for the Apprentice Water Dog level. Keisha did all the exercises well, but didn't deliver everything in my moms hand, so they didn't pass...

Apple and Yvon did a great performance and I'm very proud to say that they achieved their AWD title!!!!!! WOW what a great teamwork and a wonderful start of our week :-)

September 15, 2008 - PWDCA Specialty day 3
Today Keisha and my mom had a day of agility on their program
It rained most of the day Sunday, but today it was very sunny and warm, but also very humid. For the first time ever Keisha and my mom competed in an agility trail after not too much training but they had a lot of fun out there! Keisha was still a bit recovering from her jetleg and the warm weather didn't help much either so she didn't have very much speed why she didn't qualify on their runs. But they enjoyed their time in the ring and that's what matters most :-)

Veteran and Puppy Sweepstakes were judged today as well by Ms Rita Araujo.
It was Stella her very first time out in the ring and she was very happy. She made the cut in the 6-9 month puppy bitch class where there were 15 entered.
Lily was showing in the 12-15 month junior bitch class and won a 1st place with the lovely entry of 16 young girls.

September 16, 2008 - PWDCA Specialty day 4
Today the girls were entered in Rally-O, the night before Yvon and my mom studied the signs so they knew what they were supposed to do :-)

Both Apple and Keisha got a qualifying score for Rally Novice! Also big congrats to Dustin and Sailor and Lesley and Keke for their passing scores on their first try in Rally! Way to go!! Sailor and Keke are cousins to Keisha and Apple :-)

I had the pleasure to help out showing in Breeders class for kennel Bantry's owned by Linda Motta.

I handled CH Bantry B And B JumpJaxsplash who was in the ring with two of his kids and our colorful team took a lovely 3rd place with an entry of 17 :-)

After Breeders class Keisha and Kima made their appearance in the Parade of Titleholders where they recieved a beautiful ribbon!

September 17, 2008 - PWDCA Specialty day 5
Novice Obedience was on today. Apple (& Yvon) and Keisha (& my mom) were entered in this venue, but both NQ.... They weren't very focussed today for some reason, guess they were all a bit exhausted after the long trip and everyday a busy scedule since they arrived ;-)
Now they are all done with their performance events, so they can enjoy their well deserved rest, all but Keisha and me....

Today it was Reese her first time in the ring at this Specialty, she was showing as one of the get in Studdog class with her sire CH Questar's Thunder And Lightning, who won a 3rd place!

September 18, 2008 - PWDCA Specialty day 6
Today it was the day for the class girls to enter the ring.
131 girls were entered judged by Mrs. Kimberly Meredith-Cavanna.

Stella was the very first girl to be judged today, and she performed like a real pro again! She made the cut in a tough class with 19 6-9 mo puppies entered, I was so proud of her :-)

Lily was showing in the class with the largest entry today, 34 12-18 mo bitches were entered. She behaved wonderfully, but didn't make the cut today.

Last class to be judged today was the Open class, where Keisha was showing. 19 girls were entered and was split in half to be judged. It was a very strong class and I was very happy that she made the first cut :-) When all the girls were examined the judge brought her selection back in the ring and she pulled a beautiful girl out and also pointed at Keisha to follow that girl around in the ring... After we moved she looked at them again and then made us go around again... Then the amazing thing happened that the judge pointed at us to move infront of the other girl and go around again....... and yes KEISHA WON 1st PLACE IN OPENCLASS

Oh my gosh I just couldn't believe it!!! So we went right back in the ring to compete for Winners Bitch with all the other class winners and KEISHA WON!!! Just unbelievable, our girl won Winners Bitch at the National for a 5 point major :-)
She was really showing off and in the mood, we had a blast in the ring, see some candid shots from today below

September 19, 2008 - PWDCA Specialty day 7
Last day of the Specialty is always the one when Best of Breed is judged. This year there were 71 Champion males and 48 Champion females entered. Mrs. Kimberly Meredith-Cavanna was the judge today as well.

I handled our brown boy Kima, Casa Hoya's Copyright Edition who is such a joy to show :-)
He didn't make the cut today, but we had a lot of fun together that's for sure!

Reese was also competing and she made 3 cuts, unfortunately she wasn't selected for an AOM, but she sure showed off out there, wow can she move!

Today Keisha had to come back in the ring as well, so it was a busy day again :-) She had to compete with the Winners Dog as one of them is selected as Best of Winners...
And Keisha followed in her dad his footsteps by winning BEST OF WINNERS at the National Specialty defeating 200 dogs for this awesome win!!!!
I had the great honor to win BOW 3 years ago with Dima as well at the National Specialty in Maryland. We could have not dreamed about something like this to happen a second time, just unbelievable!!!

Apple and Keisha were also competing in Superdog over the week, Apple did 3 venues and had a total score of 4.5 points and Keisha did all 5 venues and had a total score of 5.5 points. Way to go girls!!

We had an awesome week, wonderful to see all our friends again and the amazing results made it even sweeter!!
Thanks to all who made this week possible for me :-)
